The Best of Greece in New York
By Lucas Compan
Taverna Kyclades in Astoria-Ditmars, Queens, is a must-have experience. You'll have delicious sea food in a typical Greek environment. Well, the borough of Queens is a 24/7 "Babette's Feast" where you can find food from all corners of the world.
You can also find a second Taverna Kyclades in the East Village, Manhattan. But if you want to experience its food like you were in Greece - almost literally surrounded by Greeks, hosted by the owner himself, who is also the chef - take the Queens-bound N or W trains to Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard station, the last stop. It's a fifteen-minute train ride (from Midtown Manhattan) plus two minutes walking. Voila! You'll see the blue and white restaurant waiting for you with a lot of hospitality and great Mediterranean food. After this Mediterranean experience, you can even take a walk down to Astoria Park and enjoy a nice atmosphere with great views.
